Introducing Greg Presland
I'm running for the Waitākere Ranges Local Board and I seek your support for all Future West candidates, including myself.
I've spent most of my life out west. My kids grew up here, and I've run my law practice here. The west is home.
I've served as a Waitākere City Councillor and am now in my fifth term on the local board. I've also been involved with the Portage Licensing Trust and Land Transport New Zealand (now Waka Kotahi). I became involved in local government to protect the Waitākere Ranges from "death by a thousand cuts." I was part of the coalition that pushed for the Waitākere Ranges Heritage Area Act, and I've used it ever since to ensure the Ranges get the care they deserve.
I've worked on major community projects like the Lopdell House restoration, the Te Uru Gallery, and the Whau Coastal Walkway. My goal is to make our piece of paradise better, one decision at a time. With 40 years of legal experience and extensive community involvement, I bring valuable skills to the table.
My priorities are clear: protecting our environment, supporting the arts, and ensuring our communities are cared for. Our environment is exceptional but fragile, needing special care due to climate change.
We must prepare for the future and tackle the challenges our city faces. The west is special, and the Council must ensure it stays that way.
Alongside BJ Partridge, I'm also running for the Portage Licensing Trust. The Trust plays a crucial role in managing liquor supply ethically and supporting local community organizations, and strengthening our social networks.
Voting starts in September. Please support all Future West candidates.
